The Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP)

Embark on a transformative journey into healthcare with SHPEP—where aspiring students gain invaluable insights, hands-on experience, and mentorship across diverse health professions!


Health Professions Exploration: Medicine, dentistry, nursing, optometry, pharmacy, physical therapy, public health, and more.

For Students: For college freshmen/sophomores aspiring to be a health professional

Clinical Exposure: Gain valuable hands-on clinical experience and build networks in the healthcare field.

Partner/College Institutions: Offered at 12 partner institutions across the country.

Eligibility Requirements:

High school graduate and currently enrolled as a freshman or sophomore in college.
Maximum of 60 earned credits upon application (excluding AP/IB credits).
Minimum overall college GPA of 2.5.
U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or DACA status.
Should not have previously participated in the program.

Factors for Consideration:

Students from underrepresented groups in health professions.
Economically or educationally disadvantaged backgrounds.
Interest in issues impacting underserved populations.
