Our Vertebrate Genome Laboratory specializes in high-molecular weight DNA and long-read genomic technologies. The VGL offers both library preparation and sequencing services, including library preparation for high molecular weight gDNA, long amplicons, and full-length transcriptome sequencing (Iso-Seq method), utilizing PacBio, Bionano and 10X Chromium technologies.

We seek a highly motivated bioinformatician to join the Bioinformatics team of the Vertebrate Genome Laboratory (www.vertebrategenomelab.org), contributing to both the assembly and manual curation of high-quality reference genomes for non-model vertebrate species as part of the Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP, www.vertebrategenomesproject.org). Responsibilities include working closely with our data production and assembly groups and the broader international scientific community of the VGP to generate, evaluate, and improve high-quality reference genomes, also providing feedback and directly contributing to improving the assembly and manual curation pipelines. The ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge of genomics, ideally with insights into genome assembly, genome curation and genome assembly visualization and analysis software in general.
