Celebrate Women’s History Month with panels, presentations, demonstrations, and musical performances!

Event

Celebrate Women’s History Month with panels, presentations, demonstrations, and musical performances. Join famed guitar makers Linda Manzer, Rachel Rosenkrantz, and other emerging stars such as Gabriela Guadalajara, Jeemin Kim, Jayme Kurland, and Mamie Minch to discover the incredible contributions of women to musical instrument collecting and making.

The Met collection features an impressive array of musical instruments donated to the Museum by Mary Elizabeth Adams Brown in 1889, a time when women collectors were rare. Seven years later, Frances Morris was charged with caring for the ever-growing collection, making history as the Museum’s first female full-time employee. Over the years, the Museum has expanded their collection to include instruments not only collected by women but created by them as well.

Presented in celebration of Women’s History Month.

When: Saturday, March 14, 2026 | 1:00- 4:00 PM
Where: The Met Fifth Avenue
Bonnie J. Sacerdote Lecture Hall, Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education
