NYSCI Explainers help to engage with the museum's visitors and serve as inspirations for the youth.

Explainers are part of the Science Career Ladder (SCL), the museum's youth program.
Explainers actively engage with visitors and exhibits, attend professional development sessions, participate in career development opportunities, and perform science-based demonstrations.
Requirements: NYC residents and currently enrolled in high school/college in NYC
- One year commitment through the summer
- High School: five hours a week
- College: Ten hours a week
Application Periods:
- April 1st - May 1st
- August 1st - September 1st
- December 1st - January 1st
