Program Overview Run by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), HRTP exposes students to the inner workings of one of the world's largest public health agencies. It is an essential experience for anyone considering an MPH or medical career.

What You Will Do

  • Project Work: Contribute to projects in epidemiology, maternal/child health, environmental health, or public health policy.
  • Seminars: Attend the "Public Health Seminar Series" to learn from agency leadership.
  • Skill Application: Apply classroom statistics and research methods to real-world datasets.

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or professional degree program.
  • Residency in NYC is helpful but not strictly required (must be able to commute).

Logistics

  • Location: DOHMH offices (Long Island City and Gotham Center).
  • Duration: Summer (June–August), with Part-Time academic year options.
