About the Opportunity: The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country. The Bureau of Water and Sewer Operations (BWSO) is seeking a full-time Civil Engineering Intern for its Plan Review unit. In this role, you will help review engineering proposals from various agencies and private developers to determine their impact on New York City's vital water supply and sewer systems.

Responsibilities:

Assist the Engineer-In-Charge with reviewing civil engineering proposals to ensure proposed drainage and water supply facilities conform to DEP standards.

Meet with representatives from City and State agencies as well as private developers.

Interact with consulting engineers to ensure proper review and approval of projects.

Perform research and respond to written requests for design changes and shop drawings.

Review site connection applications, Green Infrastructure plans, and drainage analyses.

Qualifications:

A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college is required. (Note: A degree in any other engineering area or in civil engineering technology is not acceptable).

A valid New York State driver’s license is preferred.

Strong oral and written communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

New York City Residency is not required for this position.

Compensation & Location:

Salary: $68,709.00 per year
