Join us to fight for food justice, climate justice, and animal rights this summer!

The Plant Powered Youth Steering Committee (YSC) Fellowship brings together students from across the United States that build youth power to achieve policy changes that enable climate-friendly, plant-based menus in K-12 schools. The YSC fosters youth leadership opportunities in a multi-stakeholder plant-based school food advocacy coalition and campaign that centers youth voices in federal and local policy initiatives to expand plant-based school menus and raises awareness among youth activists about food, racial, social, and environmental inequalities. 

Responsibilities include:

• Regularly attending virtual weekly full coalition meetings and weekly steering committee meetings.
• Attending an in person all-expense-paid Capitol Hill visit July 6 the July 10.
• Organizing and executing youth-led actions in support of the campaign such as: social media campaigns, rallies, meetings with members of Congress, writing blogs​, presenting to youth-focused clubs and organizations about the campaign and engaging other youth to take action, asking for support and engagement from youth-focused climate, animal welfare and other social justice organizations. And other actions that YOU decide!

Compensation: $1000 stipend

Qualifications:

Students must be between the ages of 14 to 22 on May 1, 2024 and have a passion for transforming the food systems. Students must also be enrolled or have attended a K-12 school that is part of the National Lunch Program.
